PLEASE NOTE: Payment does guarantee you the first available spot in the class, however the instructor will review your submission material, and if another class is found more suitable for you, you may either switch to that class or receive a full refund, what ever suits you the actor best.
In addition, this is an on-going New York Studio-Style class, where priority is given to current- returning students, your payment again guarantees you the first available spot and/or priority on the wait-list, if a spot does not become available for that month for whatever reason, you can roll over your payment for the following month or receive a full refund and you can re-register at any time. Class Book & Work: The Actors Intensive-From the Audition to Set
Day & Time Wednesday Evenings 5:30 to 11:00 pm
Cost $225.00/month consisting of 4 classes each month
Level Range- 2 thru 5 (Experience Level Scale: 1– working/training in the industry 6 months and under thru to 5— working/training in the industry for 5 years plus)
Facilitates: The class is designed to work both the audition process and in depth scene work–the best of both worlds. It’s been crafted to allow you the actor to experience the foundations of what we do on a day to day basis as working actor: What you need to do to book the job and what you need to do once you’ve booked the job. The class takes the actor through the process of the audition to booking the role and coming to set ‘set-ready’. The actor has the opportunity to work their audition process, the ability to take re-direction in the room, hone their work process once they’ve booked the role to bringing everything they’ve got to set.

~Helps the actor develop and fine tune their process of working both pre-audition and pre-set. if you don’t develop these skills unfortunately you won’t be working
~This is not a scene study class per say–but you will be working the scene on set-day–you will be more closely mirroring the real-world process of becoming the person/chararcter and ‘working the scene’ prior to coming to set, all by yourself and/or with a peer/s or a coach
~You the actor get the opportunity to work the fundamental components of our craft and business–The Story, The Audition & The Set & Yourself
How It Works
~Everything is on-camera
~Class size is focused, no more than 8 actors
~Material is current
~The actor receives an emailed video file of all their work
~The 4 week class is essentially divided into 2 two week segments—week 1 is the audition week 2 is bringing that audition back ‘set-ready’. Week 3 is a new audition and week 4 is bringing that audition back ‘set-ready’ as if you booked it. Please note, since all work is geared for the specific student and each specific group, specifics may change for maximum actor benefit. To re-cap, each 4 week class involves 2 auditions and 2 concurrent scene-study/set-ready days
~Various exercises will be employed through-out the 4 weeks to get the actor where they need to be, as much as possible, these exercises are designed to be taken ‘home’ and used by the actor to expand their actor-toolbox & their work process
~The actor will receive their audition sides 48 hours in advance, more time than we often get in the real world. You will prepare that audition as you would for any audition.
~Week 1 begins with a check-in and a warm-up. After the warm-up, the actors go into the waiting room and audition individually. Each actor receives re-direction in the room and does the audition again. The actor is then given specific instruction about what they need to do in the interceding week to prepare for ‘set-day’ Your audition is then emailed to you. You will view and critique your own work, and email your written critique to the instructor. Viewing your work and developing an unattached ability to critique your work is integral in taking your work to the next level, please note, this is a skill that will take time, like any skill.
~Week 2 is bringing that same audition back ‘set-ready’. Does this mean you have home work–Oh YES. The more work you put in the more you will get out of this class. This class will get you to develop an accountable, specific and passionate way of working. We shoot the scenes out as much as possible. You will bring wardrobe, props and whatever you have worked out you need to own this character/work as much as you possibly can.
~Week 3 and week 4 are a carbon copy of the first two weeks but with a whole new set of sides
~This class is a whole lot of fun and a ‘whole lot of challenging’–only by rising to the occasion will you master what ever that occasion may be
~ The sides will be used to target what is and is not working in the actor’s audition. The same sides will then be worked on in-depth as a ‘set-ready scene study’. With this approach, specific exercises and tools will be used to stretch and challenge the actor to deepen their work, focus and authenticity.
